Susan Cushman is an aquatic biologist. She received her Bachelor of Science in biology in 1998 from William Smith College and her Master of Science in 2001 from The Johns Hopkins University.  She earned her doctoral degree in Fisheries Science from the University of Maryland, Center for Environmental Science.  Dr. Cushman is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Biology Department at Hobart and William Smith Colleges where she has taught for the last 17 years and is the Faculty Liaison at the Finger Lakes Institute.  She teaches courses at the introductory level, as well as upper level courses in Ecology, Aquatic Biology, and Global Change Biology. Her areas of research span many areas of ecology including freshwater, fish and stream ecology; invasive species, habitat restoration, and water quality in the Finger Lakes region.  She is an active leader in the American Fisheries Society where she is a past president of the New York Chapter and the past president of the Northeastern Division of the American Fisheries Society.
