Data Manager

Omar was born and raised in the Dominican Republic, where he was constantly exposed to nature, rural life, and recurring natural disasters. He became interested in the effects of climate change and found his passion for sustainability while working with manufacturing facilities to identify and implement cleaner production initiatives.

Omar came to Rochester in 2017 to pursue a Ph.D. in Engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology, and focuses on the application of data analytics to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

At the Climate Solutions Accelerator, Omar collects, analyzes, and shares data to support the accelerator’s collective impact efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and maximize community co-benefits across the Genesee-Finger Lakes Region.

Omar enjoys traveling, being outdoors, and hiking, especially if it involves amazing mountain top views and bodies of water. He speaks fluent Spanish and volunteers regularly with Habitat for Humanity.
