Rob Kopacz is a seasoned sports executive with nearly 25 years of experience in sports marketing, revenue generation, and business operations across professional leagues (NHL, AHL, NLL, USL) and collegiate athletics. He launched his career as Director of Marketing for the Rochester Rhinos (USL, 1998–2000), leading the league in average attendance (11,000+) and contributing to championships in 1998 and 2000 (USL A-League) and 1999 (U.S. Open Cup)—earning induction into the Rhinos Hall of Fame in 2013 for his role in the 1999 team. He served as Vice President of Marketing for the Buffalo Sabres (NHL) and Buffalo Bandits (NLL), Vice President of Business Operations for the Rochester Americans (AHL, Buffalo Sabres affiliate, 2011–2017) and served on the AHL Board of Governors. He oversaw daily business operations and led the conception and execution for the Amerks of the 2013 “Frozen Frontier,” a 10-day outdoor hockey festival at Frontier Field featuring 90+ events. From 2018–2021, he served as Director of Athletics (and Career Services) at Bryant & Stratton College’s Rochester campus, launching women’s basketball, men’s soccer, and eSports teams while navigating COVID-19 challenges. A SUNY Geneseo graduate, Kopacz lives in Rochester with his wife, Barb, and has three grown sons who were all active in local travel and high school athletics (soccer, lacrosse, hockey).
