Kit is Director Emeritus of the MK Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, serving in that role 2009 - 2021. The work and reach of the Institute expanded greatly under her stewardship. Prior to the Institute, she worked as director/celebrator of Bay Area Nonviolent Communication in Oakland, California.  In those roles she was fortunate to have studied and worked for years with many remarkable people, including Marshall Rosenberg, Arun Gandhi and Joanna Macy.

With numerous colleagues, she wrote Culture Shift: Nonviolence at Work published in September, 2024.

She currently serves as the Associate Director for Restorative Practices at the University of Rochester's Office of Equity and Inclusion, and volunteers on several projects focused on advancing human rights and equity, including the Indigenous Peoples Day Committee in Rochester.

The fruits of 30+ years of studying nonviolence include maintaining a loving marriage of 33 years and (mostly) cheerfully caring for elderly parents.  Kit began studying nonviolence when she became a parent, partly in hopes of transforming some of the violence she experienced as a child.  She is a 4th generation Rochesterarian and lives with her spouse and their dog near Cobbs Hill in the city.
