Matthew Halladay is the Director of Land Conservation for the Genesee Valley Conservancy in Geneseo, NY, a not-for-profit Land Trust that works in the Genesee River watershed on private land conservation. In this role, Matthew is focused on expanding the ways in which we think about the conservation priorities of the diverse landscapes that exist up and down river communities. Working with private landowners to protect the resources they’ve tended to for decades creates public benefits that have lasting effects on our communities. Prior to joining the Conservancy, Matthew worked as a Clean Energy Coordinator with the Genesee/Finger Lakes Regional Planning Council and holds a Master’s Degree in Natural Resource Management from Colorado State University. He owes his love and respect for the natural world to his hometown community of Naples, New York, a place that has long fostered a relationship of reciprocity with the rolling hills, creeks, vineyards and farms that comprise it.
