This person will serve as the Accelerator’s lead fundraising strategist and relationship steward, responsible for meaningfully growing and sustaining a vibrant, values-aligned revenue program.

With special emphasis on building and scaling a major gift program and a corporate engagement strategy, the Director will work in close partnership with the Executive Director, Senior Director of Operations, program leaders, finance and communications staff, and the board of directors to shape and execute a long-term plan for revenue growth and organizational sustainability. This position will play a key role in advancing the organization’s growth and funding model strategy as we work toward becoming and sustaining a $5 million organization by 2030.

This role is ideal for a committed social change agent who brings both strategic thinking and relational depth to fundraising and who is motivated by developing systems, people, and practices that deepen trust, shift power, and invite greater participation in climate solutions. Our fundraising approach is rooted in the principles of Community-Centric Fundraising, and we recognize this work as iterative, relational, and evolving.

You will join a team of smart, dedicated, and strategically savvy colleagues working collaboratively to address some of the most critical climate, equity, and resilience challenges facing our region today.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Implement and continuously refine the Accelerator’s fundraising strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational values, strategic priorities, the Genesee-FLX Climate Action Strategy, programmatic goals, and long-term growth plans.

  • Serve as a thought partner to organizational leadership on revenue strategy, organizational sustainability, and emerging fundraising trends.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Senior Director of Operations, and Grants Manager to develop, manage, and monitor a cohesive, diversified revenue strategy, including fundraising projections and budgets, and to track progress toward annual and long-term revenue goals.

  • Lead and manage the development of high-quality, values-aligned relationships with individual donors and corporate partners that result in major gifts (generally $5,000+), including managing a personal portfolio of top prospects and donors, and coaching staffand board members on their fundraising roles.

  • Design and oversee intentional donor engagement and stewardship strategies, including portfolio management, clear next steps, and tracking donor relationships over time.

  • Lead and manage outreach, cultivation, and solicitation of sponsorships for the Accelerator’s annual Climate Solutions Summit.

  • Expand and diversify the prospect pool across individual donors, local businesses, and corporate partners, and oversee strategies to acquire, retain, and grow supporters, including a strong recurring giving program.

  • Plan and execute annual giving campaigns in close collaboration with the Communications & Events Manager and organizational leadership.

  • Explore, design, and oversee creative, mission-aligned fundraising initiatives and special events that build community, joy, and donor engagement, including the potential for a flagship, dance party–themed fundraiser.

  • Collaborate with communications and program staffto ensure donors receive timely, compelling, and accurate information about the Accelerator’s work and impact through digital and print communications.

  • Organize and support donor cultivation and stewardship efforts, including supporter engagement and appreciation events.

  • Oversee gift processing and donor acknowledgement workflows, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong stewardship practices.

  • Effectively utilize, maintain, and continuously improve donor data systems (Little Green Light), including database policies, procedures, and data integrity practices.

  • Co-facilitate and partner with the board Development Committee to engage, train, and support board members in fundraising efforts and in achieving annual fundraising goals.

  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented approach to fundraising across the organization, including goal-setting, tracking progress, and reporting outcomes.

  • Work with the board and staffto incorporate Community-Centric Fundraising principles into the Accelerator’s fundraising efforts, recognizing that this work is ongoing and evolving.

  • Manage and strengthen equitable policies, systems, and processes needed to ensure the effectiveness, quality, and integrity of the fundraising program.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate brings demonstrated experience in nonprofit fundraising, including major gift and relationship-based fundraising, and is confident making direct, values-aligned asks for financial support. They are deeply motivated by the Accelerator’s mission, vision, and values, and bring a genuine commitment to climate justice, equity, and community-led solutions. This person is a strong communicator and relationship builder, able to engage effectively and respectfully with donors, board members, staff, and community partners across the region.

They are skilled at navigating complex or challenging conversations with diplomacy, sound judgment, and curiosity, and are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-evolving organization. The successful candidate is organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution while managing competing priorities. Comfort with donor databases and digital tools is important, as is a willingness to learn, adapt, and improve systems over time. Excellent budget awareness, strong prioritization skills, and a collaborative leadership style are essential. The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care is required. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout the nine-county region are required (mileage reimbursement provided).
