The Accelerator has been studying how we can decarbonize rental housing in Rochester with the Urban Institute, and we need your input! Beyond benefits to our climate, decarbonizing our housing would address many other challenges facing our community, including public health, energy and housing affordability, and housing quality.
Many renters are being left out of the clean energy transition because of what’s known as the “split incentive.” This happens when tenants pay their own energy bills, but landlords make the decisions about upgrades like insulation, efficient heating, or solar panels.
If you’re a renter, landlord, or simply interested in making housing more energy-efficient and affordable, save the date! Join us and our partner, the Urban Institute, for a community discussion on how we can make rental housing in Rochester cleaner, greener, and more sustainable for everyone. Your input will help shape future solutions—and we’d love to hear from you!
